A Sunday explosion causing minor damage to the U.S. Embassy in Oslo is being investigated by Norwegian police. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Authorities said they received a report about the explosion at around 1 a.m.\u00a0local time. <\/p>\n
\u201cEmergency services have had extensive resources at the scene, but no injuries and only minor material damage have been reported at the scene,\u201d authorities wrote in a a press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe police take such incidents in public spaces very seriously, and are investigating the case with significant resources and high priority,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n Dogs, drones and helicopters were used to survey the area after the explosion. Police said that after further investigation, the surrounding area was safe for residents. <\/p>\n Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s natural to see this in the context of the current security situation and that this could be an attack deliberately targeting the U.S. embassy,\u201d police spokesperson Frode Larsen said at a news conference, per The Hill\u2019s sister station NewsNation.<\/p>\n In recent days, some U.S. embassies<\/a> and consulates<\/a> have been targeted by Iranian drone strikes after the U.S. and Israel launched joint military operations in the region. <\/p>\n The U.S. Embassy in Oslo did not immediately respond to The Hill\u2019s request for comment. <\/p>\n Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media Inc.
