Germany’s position on the embassy’s operations<\/p>\n
Wadephul stressed that Berlin has no intention of reducing or suspending the work of its embassy in Kyiv despite pressure and statements from Russia.<\/p>\n
“We are in close contact with other embassies. We won’t be intimidated by this. We know Russians, and this is the means they take,” the minister said when asked about threats made by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and calls for foreign states to evacuate their embassies from Kyiv.<\/p>\n
Accusations of hybrid warfare<\/p>\n
Wadephul said Russia is waging not only a military war against Ukraine but also an active information campaign against Western countries supporting Kyiv.<\/p>\n
According to the minister, such pressure tactics are part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening the resolve of Ukraine\u2019s allies.<\/p>\n
Possible contacts with Russia<\/p>\n
Commenting on the possibility of direct talks between Germany\u2019s leadership and Russian officials, Wadephul did not rule out such contacts in the future.<\/p>\n
At the same time, he said any dialogue would depend on Moscow\u2019s willingness to take real steps toward ending the war.<\/p>\n
