The Kremlin stated that the growing militarization of Poland and several European countries will ultimately come at the expense of taxpayers, while reiterating Moscow\u2019s rejection of claims portraying Russia as the main threat to Europe.<\/p>\n
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Poland and other European nations continue to designate Russia as their primary security threat, a characterization Moscow \u201ccategorically rejects.\u201d<\/p>\n
Peskov also announced that the ceasefire declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the zone of the special military operation will remain in effect on May 8 and 9. He noted that Moscow has not observed any response from Kiev regarding its own self-declared \u201cceasefire regime.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Kremlin further expressed hope that the United States would continue acting in good faith in negotiations related to the conflict in Ukraine, adding that Russia expects talks on Ukraine to resume and remains open to continued dialogue.<\/p>\n
Regarding the reported visit of former Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to the United States, Peskov said the Kremlin has no information about the purpose of the trip.<\/p>\n
He also claimed that American negotiators are no longer primarily focused on Ukraine, asserting that Washington\u2019s current priority has shifted toward tensions surrounding Iran.<\/p>\n
Peskov added that Putin is preparing to hold talks with foreign leaders and delegations arriving in Moscow for the May 9 celebrations commemorating the victory over Nazi Germany in the World War II.<\/p>\n
