Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Ukrainian presidential administration and former military intelligence chief, said Monday that a phone call between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin would not happen \u201cout of the blue\u201d, but Kyiv would be prepared for serious talks if Moscow was genuinely willing to engage, APA<\/a> reports citing LRT.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do not think such a call would be possible without any warning,\u201d Budanov told reporters during a visit to Lithuania.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as I know, our official interstate communication channels have been cut off, and such calls are not conducted on mobile phones,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeriously speaking, if Russia is ready \u2013 truly ready \u2013 for a serious discussion, then Ukraine would also be ready,\u201d Budanov said.<\/p>\n

Asked about the situation on the battlefield, Budanov described it briefly as stable.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Putin said Saturday that the war in Ukraine was easing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe support ending the war and achieving peace afterward,\u201d Budanov said. \u201cThis is the official position of Ukraine, supported by the Ukrainian president. We support ending hostilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to repeat once again that striving for peace is not weakness, but common sense,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
