Titled \u201c<a data-ylk=\"slk:Keeping Our Children and Families Safe in the AI Era;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsensemedia.org\/press-releases\/leaders-gather-for-inaugural-copenhagen-youth-ai-summit-as-common-sense-media-brings-youth-ai-safety\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Keeping Our Children and Families Safe in the AI Era<\/a>,\u201d the conference was organized by Save the Children in collaboration with Common Sense Media, an American organization focused on technology and children, and former European Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager.<\/p>\n<p><a data-ylk=\"slk:Denmark\u2019s King Frederik;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/society\/tradition\/g46276956\/prince-frederik-denmark-life-photos\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Denmark\u2019s King Frederik<\/a> opened <a data-ylk=\"slk:the conference with a speech;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DYPO3ingLpu\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">the conference with a speech<\/a> on Tuesday morning, and Sophie made brief remarks in her capacity as royal patron of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, a British charity. The conference brought together politicians, experts, and technology leaders to discuss how to protect children and young people from the harmful effects of social media and artificial intelligence. The Duchess has a long-standing working relationship with the King of Denmark; Sophie hosted Frederik <a data-ylk=\"slk:in the Royal Box at Wimbledon;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/society\/tradition\/a65315599\/king-frederik-denmark-sophie-edinburgh-royal-box-wimbledon-2025\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">in the Royal Box at Wimbledon<\/a> last summer.<\/p>\n<p>Frederik has served as the royal patron of Save the Children since 2002. \u201cWith AI-generated images and videos, the line between what is real and what is not is becoming increasingly blurred. Children\u2014and the rest of us for that matter\u2014are, in effect, being deliberately deceived,\u201d Frederik <a data-ylk=\"slk:said during his remarks;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kongehuset.dk\/taler\/h-m-kongens-tale-ved-red-barnet-konferencen-keeping-our-children-and-families-safe-in-the-ai-era-den-12-maj-2026\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">said during his remarks<\/a>. \u201cAnd when convincing AI companions offer friendship, advice, and emotional support, it can be tempting to turn to them as trusted confidants. But they are not human. They have no lived experience, no genuine emotions, no moral judgement, and no true empathy. And if we begin to mistake machines for people, we risk being left in the dark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The King acknowledged that AI \u201cholds immense promise\u201d as well, noting it can expand access to knowledge and creativity. \u201cThe goal, therefore, is not to halt innovation\u2014but to guide it responsibly with the safety of children in mind,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Sophie\u2019s time in Denmark is limited.
