The installation process will continue until\u202fQ4\u202f2026.<\/p>\n<p>The monopiles for Baltica 2 are about\u202f100 metres\u202flong, with diameters of more than 10 metres, and weigh 1,500 tonnes on average.\u00a0Once installed offshore, these structures are designed to support wind turbines for\u202fup to 30 years\u202fin harsh marine conditions.\u202fEach monopile has a unique geometry\u202ftailored\u202fto its specific location.<\/p>\n<p>The\u202fBaltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm will be built,\u202fowned,\u202fand\u202foperated\u202fin a 50\/50 partnership between \u00d8rsted and Poland\u2019s largest energy company, PGE Polska Grupa\u202fEnergetyczna.\u202fThe wind farm, which will be\u202flocated\u202fapproximately\u202f40 km\u202foff the Polish coast near\u202fUstka, is expected to be fully commissioned in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Baltica 2 has a 25-year inflation-protected contract for difference (CfD) in place with the Polish state. The wind farm has obtained all permits and has signed a grid connection contract with the Polish transmission system operator, PSE.<\/p>\n<p>Rasmus Errboe, CEO\u202fof \u00d8rsted, said:<br \/>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased to mark the start of offshore construction with the\u202ffirst monopile installations\u202fon Baltica 2.\u202fPoland and Europe need offshore wind\u202fto strengthen\u00a0their\u00a0energy security. It also sends a clear signal to the market that PGE, as a leader, is taking responsibility for\u202fthe country\u2019s energy transition \u2013\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0launching the largest renewable energy project in Poland in terms of capacity,\u202fwhich is\u00a0being constructed\u202fin the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. The first electricity will flow from these installations in just one year. Once completed, the 1.5 GW\u00a0wind\u00a0farm will generate 5\u20136 TWh of energy annually, equivalent to the annual electricity demand of approximately 2.5 million households. Together, we share the ambition to further develop offshore wind as a reliable and sustainable source of energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About Baltica 2\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Baltica 2 is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2027. \u00d8rsted and PGE\u202fare responsible for\u202fthe full scope of the wind\u00a0farm,\u00a0including offshore transmission and substations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Baltica 2 will use the Port of Gda\u0144sk for the storage, pre-assembly, and offshore installation of\u00a0wind\u00a0turbine components.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The wind farm will\u202fcomprise\u202f107 Siemens Gamesa 14-222\u00a0wind turbines\u00a0of 14\u202fMW, which will be installed\u00a0by\u202fCadeler\u202fand Fred. Olsen\u202fWindcarrier, while Van Oord will be installing foundations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The\u202fCfD\u202ffor Baltica\u00a02 runs\u00a0for\u00a025 years and starts after commissioning of the wind\u00a0farm, which is expected in 2027. The nominal starting price per MWh will be\u202fdetermined\u202fbased on the agreed 2021\u00a0price of EUR 71.82 plus accumulated inflation from 2021 until the\u202fCfD\u202fstarts. The price per MWh will be annually adjusted to inflation.
