South Carolina may end up calling a special session on redistricting after all, according to local reports, reviving the possibility of Republicans pushing through a gerrymandered map that specifically targets Rep. Jim Clyburn\u2019s (D-SC) district.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In Mississippi, Gov. Tate Reeves announced that he is canceling\u00a0 a special session on judicial redistricting, but indicated that the state would redraw congressional districts before the 2027 election.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe tenure of Congressman Bennie Thompson reigning terror on the 2nd Congressional District is over,\u201d he said on Super Talk Mississippi on Wednesday. \u201cIt\u2019s not a question of if. It\u2019s a question of when.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen said that next week\u2019s primary will still happen, but that votes in four districts will be thrown out after an additional special primary in August.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And, in Louisiana, the Louisiana Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee advanced a gerrymandered map. The proposal now heads to the Senate for a vote on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
