Yet many political forces across Europe are still unconvinced that it will help to ease national migrational pressures, with some saying it will make matters worse.<\/p>\n<p>The Pact was born with the declared intention of strengthening control. In reality, it will introduce administrative changes, while <a href=\"https:\/\/europeanconservative.com\/articles\/news\/eu-migration-pact-explained-returns-unsolved-canary-islands-documentary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">leaving the foundations of the model largely untouched<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hungarian MEP Andr\u00e1s L\u00e1szl\u00f3 on Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/laszloan\/status\/2054272143060611251\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> the Pact simply amounts to Europe \u201cdoubling down on a failed migration policy,\u201d adding that quotas and relocation mechanisms are not the answer. Instead, \u201cfixing the migration policy is not difficult and can be done in three steps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Defend the borders and stop illegal entry.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Close legal loopholes, defund pro-immigration NGOs.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Remove those who are already here illegally and remove non-EU citizens who commit a crime. Use trade sanctions against countries that refuse to cooperate on returns.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today marks exactly ONE MONTH until the EU Migration Pact comes into force &amp; this is a moment worth noting.<\/p>\n<p>After years of chaos and failure, Europe is doubling down on a failed migration policy.<\/p>\n<p>This pact will attempt to reintroduce a system of redistribution of migrants on\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andr\u00e1s L\u00c1SZL\u00d3 MEP \ud83c\udded\ud83c\uddfa (@laszloan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/laszloan\/status\/2054272143060611251?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">May 12, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>L\u00e1szl\u00f3\u2019s group in the European Parliament, the Patriots, has long opposed the Pact, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PatriotsEP\/status\/1988678706336866455\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">arguing<\/a> that the Commission is using it to force EU states to \u201ccapitulate\u201d to mass immigration.<\/p>\n<p>The European Conservatives and Reformists group also <a href=\"https:\/\/ecrgroup.eu\/campaign\/ecr_policy_group\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">insists<\/a> that the programme \u201cwould not solve the underlying issue but rather abolish most of the national prerogatives on this policy area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under former prime minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n, Hungary was one of the Pact\u2019s most staunch opponents.
