Earlier today, reports emerged suggesting that AFC Ajax had shown an interest in signing FC Barcelona captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen<\/a> in the summer.<\/p>\n

The German goalkeeper, currently on loan at Girona<\/a> and sidelined with an injury, does not feature in Hansi Flick\u2019s plans<\/a> at the Spotify Camp Nou for next season.<\/p>\n

As such, it was suggested that a move to Ajax could be on the cards, given that former Barcelona sporting director Jordi Cruyff now holds the same role at the Dutch club.<\/p>\n

Moreover, current Girona boss, Michel, has emerged as the favourite to become the next manager at Ajax, adding weight to the rumours about a move for Ter Stegen.<\/p>\n

Ajax not interest<\/p>\n

However, according to Mundo Deportivo<\/a>, Ter Stegen is simply not part of Ajax\u2019s plans for the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

Although the Dutch giants value the 34-year-old German\u2019s qualities, such as his experience, leadership and ability with the ball at his feet, the club are currently not considering a move for him.<\/p>\n

The veteran goalkeeper is on a significant salary at Bar\u00e7a, and that alone would pose a huge challenge for a club like Ajax.<\/p>\n

For now, though, despite the rumours, a move to Ajax does not appear to be on the table.<\/p>\n

What next for Ter Stegen?<\/p>\n

Ter Stegen is facing a decisive summer regarding his future. He remains under contract at Barcelona until 2028. As mentioned previously, he is not part of Flick\u2019s plans for the future.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the veteran goalkeeper himself accepts that his immediate future does not involve returning to a backup role at Barcelona.<\/p>\n
