Vilnius has unveiled the Pink Soup Train, a unique rail experience inspired by Lithuania’s iconic cold pink soup, \u0161altibar\u0161\u010diai. Running from 15 May to 30 August, the train will operate on the Mockava-Vilnius route, part of the Warsaw-Vilnius connection, offering travellers a colourful journey to the Lithuanian capital.<\/p>\n
The initiative, launched by Go Vilnius and LTG Link, aims to enhance the appeal of rail travel as a sustainable alternative to flying. Egl\u0117 Girdzijauskait\u0117, Head of Communications at Go Vilnius, stated, “It’s not just about getting to Vilnius\u2014it’s about how you arrive.” The train’s interior is a vivid pink, with design elements reflecting the soup’s ingredients, creating an immersive experience for passengers.<\/p>\n
The Pink Soup Train coincides with the Vilnius Pink Soup Fest from 29 to 31 May, where the city will host themed events, including a pink water slide and a waiters’ race. This festival has grown from a local initiative into a major summer event, blending food, culture, and community.<\/p>\n
Vilnius is increasingly accessible by rail, with connections from major European cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, and London. In 2025, over 23,000 passengers travelled by train between Poland and Lithuania, marking a 38% increase in ticket sales from the previous year. This reflects a broader trend towards rail travel as a more conscious and sustainable choice<\/p>\n
