I have a very special review to share, and it\u2019s the 2025 LEGO Employee Gift set, 4002025 Toy Store!<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t know, LEGO designs and produces these special sets each year that are just for employees of The LEGO Group, and they\u2019re typically distributed in December, as a Christmas gift from the company. <\/p>\n

As a member of the LEGO Ambassador Network, we used to receive these sets for a few years in the program, but as of a few years ago they stopped that practice, which is fair, as while our roles as Community Ambassadors were important, we aren\u2019t really employees. <\/p>\n

A few have been popping up on eBay and I was really excited to get my hands on the 2025 LEGO Employee Gift as it\u2019s a Winter Village-themed set, so I nabbed one on eBay, and had it express shipped all the way to Australia so I could build, document and write about it!<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look at the box, which has a very clean dual-sided look at both sides of the building, with the main one being a Toy Store, and the back being Santa\u2019s Workshop\/Post Office. The packaging design is immaculate, with a bright and cheery illustrations of the Winter Village, and the Northern Lights. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a LEGO Icons set, so it\u2019s unencumbered by the bleak black box, and really evokes a feeling of nostalgia when Winter Village sets used to be bright, festive and Christmasy. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

On the top is the year, which is a common feature of the LEGO Employee Gifts. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The sides feature some cutouts of the characters, and storyline, and a showcase of the instructions manual, which invite you to build this together in a group. Perfect for families!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Lifting open the box, you get this alternative shot of the model with both buildings positioned side by side. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There are even illustrations on the inside of the box! <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

One of the big drawcards of the set is the sticker sheet, which has some amazing designs on them, including retro LEGO sets, a 1960s LEGO logo and some fun posters like a Visit Billund\/Visit the North Pole. More on the retro sets when we look at the interiors!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

15 numbered paper bags are included in the set, and a whopping 8 manuals are included. The build is very clever, and you can concurrently build with up to 7 other people, and the building comes together effortlessly. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I built this with my kids using the Build Together functionality in the LEGO Builder App, which worked really well and I\u2019m convinced that this is one of LEGO\u2019s best innovations and tech products. If you\u2019ve never used it before, it\u2019s a fun way to approach building where the app does all the heavy lifting and works out how each participant builds separate small sections, and passes these bits to one another. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s a non-linear way to build (you often have 2 or 3 bags open at the same time), but it divides up the build in a very smart way, and it\u2019s perfect if you\u2019re an adult and want to share more complex builds with younger builders. <\/p>\n

At the start of each booklet, there is a poem telling the story of this set, about a boy who writes a letter to Santa, and how Santa and his Elves make the boy\u2019s Christmas wish come true. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The set comes with 7 minifigures, which is a really good number to open up all sorts of roleplay potential, and really fills out the set. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look at the two Elves, and Santa Claus. I\u2019ve never come across the first Elf with the glasses and moustache, so I believe its new, and likely one of the only exclusive (for now) minifigure elements in the set.<\/p>\n

Slight correction, the head has appeared in 2 LEGO City sets, 60473 City Tower<\/a> and 60466 Bulldozer<\/a><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s their back prints and alternate faces. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And here at the LEGO Winter Villagers. We have a female Postmaster, the boy who is posting his letter, his sister with a pink pom pom, and the Toy Store owner. The Toy Store owner has a pretty new torso, which showed up first in the 10361 Holiday Express Train<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s their back prints and alternate faces. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This is a really nice touch, but I love that the foundations of both buildings are red 2\u00d72 bricks. Each building is built on a 16\u00d732 baseplate. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look at the Toy Store building. It has a very rich and dark colour scheme, and there\u2019s a corridor to access the back, which is Santa\u2019s Workshop\/Post Office. The buildings are relatively compact, but if you\u2019re into LEGO Winter Village sets, the scale will be very familiar. <\/p>\n

The post office is pretty small, and there\u2019s a small sign atop it to identify that it\u2019s a post office. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

One clue that this is a secret modular building is of course, the white lamp post on the corner. Winter Village sets typically have black lamp posts, so it\u2019s interesting that the lamp posts in this set are white. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

You can easily remove the roof for access, although it\u2019s quite cramped as the buildings are small. The Post Office has some scales, brown boxes, and some cookies ready to go. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

On the far side, there\u2019s a wall of letters and packages, including a slot that you can slide an envelope tile into for it to pop out the other side. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

On the outside, there is a red mailbox attached to the wall. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And under the arch, there are tourism posters, with an ad encouraging you to Visit The North Pole. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

But my favourite tourism poster has to be this Visit Billund one, with a cow and red LEGO brick. Billund is mostly LEGO, and farm\/agricultural land, so there are plenty of dairy cows there. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The main building (namesake of the set) is the Toy Store, and it has a very dark and rich facade. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The TOYS sign is incredibly well-designed with some sensational parts usage to create these letters. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

On the ground floor in the window, there\u2019s a toy display in the front, and this cool sign with LEGO bricks. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a golden wooden duck hanging on the wall, which is a really effective use of really basic elements to nail such an iconic silhouette. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a LEGO History\/Vintage tragic, so for me, the best part of the set is this shelf filled with vintage LEGO sets, mostly from the 1960s, an era that defined LEGO\u2019s move away from Wooden Toys into Plastic Bricks. This was a transitionary part of The LEGO Group\u2019s history, between wooden toys, and before they settled on LEGO\u2019s System of Play and of course minifigures. <\/p>\n

Six sets are featured here, and the manual points them all out as you apply the stickers. Did you own any of these sets?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the back of the build, located in the North Pole (evident by all the snow), with Santa\u2019s Workshop.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a little garage for Santa\u2019s sleigh to be parked. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The sleigh itself is quite small and basic, and looks like something Santa uses to commute to work. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And inside the garage, we can see where the Envelope appears when pushed in from the other side. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Sleigh Mail sign is pretty neat.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look at the facade of Santa\u2019s Workshop, which has the same colour scheme as Elf Club House<\/a>, and looks suitably festive with the large candy canes, wreaths and bells. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Even the lamp post design is pretty neat. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The ground floor is pretty bare bones, with some presents waiting to be wrapped by Santa\u2019s Elves, but there\u2019s a nice message board behind it, with a silhouette of a minifigure, LEGO bricks, a poem, and what I believe is a photo of Ole Kirk Christiansen\u2019s house in Billund. <\/p>\n

Following the staircase upstairs, we see some presents already wrapped, including the standout yellow box with the early 1960s LEGO System logo and a black and red train next to it.<\/p>\n

Is it a modular or a Winter Village set<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

One of the awesome things about the design of 4002025 Toy Store is the versatility of how you display it. When placed back to back, you can display either the North Pole with Santa\u2019s Workshop, or the Toy Store for a more grounded Winter Village vibe. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Or, if you\u2019d like to create a long display, you can display both buildings side by side to create a longer street which looks great if you want to further expand your LEGO Winter Village with more buildings. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

When I first saw the pins, and the fact that both buildings placed back to back fit into a 32\u00d732 footprint, I instantly knew that the designers did this for the express purpose of Modular compatibility. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Here it is sandwiched between the 2026 and 2025 Modulars, 11371 Shopping Street<\/a> and 10350 Tudor Corner<\/a>, making this an unofficial LEGO Modular building, and also the very first Modular Winter Village set!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Oh and when you\u2019re all done, it packs neatly into the box which I think is brilliant for a seasonal set! <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

4002025 Toy Store is such a great set, and I am a little sad that such a brilliant set won\u2019t be released to the masses as a retail LEGO set. I absolutely adore the versatility of how you display, with so many options to integrate it into your LEGO Winter Village, OR even the Modular Street. <\/p>\n

In a year without a \u201cproper\u201d WInter Village set, it\u2019s now apparent that this could\u2019ve and should\u2019ve been released as the 2025 Winter Village set, which would make a lot of people very happy.<\/p>\n

That said, LEGO Employee Gifts are a very long-running and important tradition for The LEGO Group, and many of LEGO\u2019s most iconic and recognisable Christmas-themed sets *cough* 4002019 Christmas X-wing<\/a> *cough* have been released as employee gifts. I absolutely don\u2019t begrudge LEGO for doing this, as I\u2019ll be honest, the last few Employee Christmas sets haven\u2019t exactly set the world on fire. <\/p>\n

4002025 Toy Store is different, and I think it\u2019s a very lovely gesture for LEGO to gift this to their employees. As an indirect bonus, employees can likely sell this for a pretty penny on the secondary market, or enjoy what is a terrific LEGO Christmas\/Winter Village set that\u2019s specially made with team members in mind. <\/p>\n

For regular mortals like you and me, you can always pick one up on eBay or Bricklink<\/a>. They\u2019re not too expensive at the moment, and the price will dip slightly as more employees receive their sets and resell them, but I think with this being a pseudo-Winter Village set, it will be very popular amongst fans. <\/p>\n

Oh and one last note. This may be an employee LEGO set, but I wouldn\u2019t necessarily call 4002025 Toy Store rare, as LEGO has over 30,000 employees worldwide, so there\u2019ll be a LOT of these sets floating about. <\/p>\n
