\n\tTallinn\/Estonia: Canada and the Baltic states on Wednesday reaffirmed their support for NATO, Ukraine and transatlantic security cooperation during a meeting in Tallinn, Estonia amid heightened geopolitical tensions and continued concerns over Russia\u2019s actions in Europe.<\/p>\n
\n\tForeign ministers from Canada, Estonia and Lithuania, along with Latvia\u2019s parliamentary secretary for foreign affairs, met for the fourth Canada-Baltics \u201c3+1\u201d Foreign Ministers\u2019 Meeting, according to a statement from Global Affairs Canada.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThe ministers described Russia as the \u201cmain long-term threat\u201d to Euro-Atlantic security and pledged continued cooperation on defence, sanctions and countering foreign interference and disinformation.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\n\tThe group also reiterated support for Ukraine, calling military assistance and reconstruction efforts a strategic priority while backing additional pressure on Moscow through sanctions and diplomatic isolation.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe ministers highlighted Canada\u2019s leadership of NATO\u2019s multinational brigade in Latvia and called for stronger situational awareness and resilience across the Arctic, the Baltic Sea and the North Atlantic regions.<\/p>\n
\n\tThey also discussed tensions in the Middle East, expressing concern over threats to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and emphasising the importance of freedom of navigation under international law.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe statement called for humanitarian access in the Gaza Strip and support for efforts aimed at achieving a durable ceasefire and broader regional stability.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe ministers additionally pledged to deepen economic and security cooperation through the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement and other Canada-European Union defence initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
