Sen. Mark Kelly <\/a>(D-Ariz.) reflected on his attendance at the Munich Security Conference earlier this year, speaking with several world leaders who he said are \u201cnot happy\u201d with the U.S during the second Trump administration. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey kind of hate us right now. They\u2019re not happy,\u201d Kelly told Hasan Minhaj on Wednesday\u2019s airing of the comedian\u2019s podcast.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump<\/a> has long berated U.S. allies in NATO and fueled further tensions with the people of Greenland this year after asserting that the U.S. must acquire or control <\/a>the semi-autonomous Danish territory. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe prime minister of Greenland told me that the kids in Greenland<\/a> are now afraid of Americans. Afraid,\u201d said Kelly.<\/p>\n

\u201cChildren are afraid of us, because of what this administration\u2014\u201d Kelly continued, before Minhaj jumped in and quipped, \u201cUsually that\u2019s only for Iraqi or Afghani or brown children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen met with Trump-appointed U.S. special envoy Jeff Landry this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe there is progress, and from Greenland\u2019s side we are focused on finding a solution that is good for us all, and most importantly that threats of annexation, takeover or a purchase of Greenland and the Greenlandic people does not occur,\u201d Nielsen said after the high-stakes talks.<\/p>\n

However, according to Kelly, even if a Democrat were elected to the White House in the next election, world leaders would still wonder who comes next. <\/p>\n

\u201cI believe we\u2019re still a country with a moral compass and ethics and can be a good partner and we\u2019re stronger together than we are by ourselves,\u201d Kelly said. \u201cI think that\u2019s the worst thing that Donald Trump has done is he has damaged these relationships.
