We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p>Your support makes all the difference.Read more<\/p>\n<p>Lithuania&#8217;s capital airport on Wednesday \u2060suspended flights due to a drone warning, the country&#8217;s national \u2060crisis management \u200bcentre \u2060said.<\/p>\n<p>The alert was issued in \u2060response to a \u200bdrone \u2060in neighbouring Belarus that \u200cwas seen flying towards Lithuania, the \u200ccentre said, adding that \u200cthe drone&#8217;s origin had not been \u2060confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>A NATO fighter jet on Tuesday shot down a suspected Ukrainian drone over Estonia, the Baltic country \u200csaid, the latest in \u200ba series of \u200cairspace \u2060violations in the \u2060region amid frequent Ukrainian attacks \u200con \u200bneighbouring Russia. <\/p>\n<p>Ukraine blamed Russia for steering one of its drones into the airspace where a NATO jet shot it down. Latvia issued a first air threat \u2060alert over a possible drone entering its airspace on Tuesday, telling residents near the Russian border to stay indoors, with NATO Baltic Air Police jets summoned to the area. It later said it found no evidence that a drone had entered its air space.<\/p>\n<p>It declared a second air threat alert after that, over two counties bordering Russia, leading to a fresh deployment of NATO fighter jets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Russia continues to redirect Ukrainian drones into the Baltics with the use of \u2060its electronic warfare,&#8221; Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said on X. &#8220;We apologise to \u200bEstonia \u2060and all of our Baltic friends for such unintended incidents.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also said Kyiv was not using Latvian or Estonian territory to launch drone attacks on Russia, which the Baltic countries echoed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our legitimate military targets are located in Russia; and we use \u2060the Russian airspace to get to them,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1779363254_561_2026-05-19T152936Z_1425508303_RC2ECLAB70XS_RTRMADP_3_UKRAINE-CRISIS-BALTIC.JPG\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Police guard the perimeter of a drone crash site as a military police car leaves, near Kablakula village, Estonia May 19, 2026.
