Police later confirmed that the suspect had not been arrested but had spoken with officers. During questioning, he revealed where the bomb had been left.<\/p>\n

The explosive was recovered several dozen metres from the original discovery site. Authorities sealed off the area while the Finnish Defence Forces prepared to destroy the device later on Thursday.<\/p>\n

A public danger warning issued during the search was later cancelled.<\/p>\n

Police initially believed the object was a wartime grenade before identifying it as a Russian wartime incendiary bomb. Investigators later described it more broadly as a wartime Russian aerial bomb measuring several dozen centimetres in length.<\/p>\n

Police also revealed they had received an earlier report on 2 April concerning a possible explosive in the same area. Authorities are now examining whether the April report was connected to the bomb recovered this week.<\/p>\n
