\n Berlin. Under sunny skies, Berlin\u2019s Bebelplatz was
\n once again transformed into a musical festival venue at the weekend:
\n more than 30,000 visitors attended the 20th edition of \u201cStaatsoper f\u00fcr
\n alle\u201d \u2013 the premier open-air event organised by the Staatsoper Unter
\n den Linden and its long-standing partner BMW. With the live broadcast
\n of Giuseppe Verdi\u2019s \u201cNabucco\u201d and the concert by the Staatskapelle
\n Berlin under Christian Thielemann, the audience was treated to two
\n extraordinary open-air musical events \u2013 with free admission.<\/p>\n
On Saturday evening, the live broadcast from the Staatsoper of
\n Giuseppe Verdi\u2019s \u201cNabucco\u201d, conducted by Francesco Lanzillotta and
\n featuring Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, Lidia Fridman, Tareq Nazmi, Elena
\n Maximova, Andr\u00e9s Moreno Garc\u00eda, Clara Nadeshdin, Junho Hwang und
\n Hanseong Yun in the title roles, thrilled audiences both in the
\n auditorium and on the open-air big screen on Bebelplatz. On Sunday
\n morning, the Children\u2019s Opera Orchestra, together with members of the
\n International Opera Studio and the Staatsoper\u2019s Youth Choir, opened
\n the musical programme under the baton of Giuseppe Mentuccia with works
\n by Jacques Offenbach and Jules Massenet. Afterwards, the Staatskapelle
\n Berlin, conducted by General Music Director Christian Thielemann, drew
\n enthusiastic cheers from the audience on Bebelplatz with Ludwig van
\n Beethoven\u2019s Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68 (\u201cPastoral\u201d), as well as
\n his overtures to \u201cCoriolan\u201d and \u201cEgmont\u201d.<\/p>\n

\n unifying music can be and the special power that lies in making opera
\n and concerts freely accessible to everyone right in the heart of

\n has delighted so many Berliners and visitors from all over the world.

As in previous years, the open-air event was held under the patronage
\n of Berlin\u2019s Governing Mayor, Kai Wegner, who, on Saturday evening,
\n joined Elisabeth Sobotka, Intendant of the Staatsoper, and Nina
\n Englert, Head of the BMW Group\u2019s Berlin branch, in welcoming the
\n audience to the 20th edition of this major musical event on
\n Bebelplatz. On Sunday, the State Secretary for Culture, Ms Cerstin
\n Richter-Kotowski, together with Elisabeth Sobotka and Nina Englert,
\n addressed the tens of thousands of spectators from Berlin and around
\n the world. Journalist and presenter Petra Gute guided the audience
\n through the programme on both days with her knowledgeable and charming
\n commentary.\u00a0Numerous prominent guests from the worlds of culture and
\n society were also among the audience at \u201cStaatsoper f\u00fcr alle\u201d,
\n including Kostja Ullmann (actor), Michael Michalsky (designer) and
\n Klara Lange (actress).<\/p>\n
The opera performance was broadcast live on rbb radio3, whilst the
\n concert by the Staatskapelle Berlin was streamed live on
\n staatsoper-berlin.de and aired on rbb television. Both the radio
\n broadcast of \u201cNabucco\u201d and the television broadcast of the
\n Staatskapelle concert are available in the ARD media library.<\/p>\n
Save the date: On 4 July 2026, \u201cOper f\u00fcr alle\u201d will
\n take place in Munich, featuring a live broadcast of Richard Wagner\u2019s
\n \u201cDie Walk\u00fcre\u201d, directed by Tobias Kratzer and conducted by Vladimir Jurowski.<\/p>\n
Next year, \u201cStaatsoper f\u00fcr alle\u201d will take place on 12 and 13
\n June 2027 at Bebelplatz.<\/p>\n
