According to the embassy, Paris is especially focused on information collected by Norway in the interests of NATO. The data in\u00a0question primarily concerns Russian military activity in\u00a0the Arctic region and Russia\u2019s\u00a0strategic forces. The diplomatic mission said Oslo has recently been paying excessive attention to\u00a0these issues, while the French initiative has an\u00a0anti-Russian character.<\/p>\n
The Russian Embassy in\u00a0Norway had earlier said that Moscow does not threaten anyone in\u00a0the Arctic and seeks to\u00a0maintain peace and stability in\u00a0the high latitudes. Russian diplomats also stressed that the country remains committed to\u00a0international law and supports resolving emerging issues through political and diplomatic means.<\/p>\n
Moscow has repeatedly pointed in recent years to what it describes as unprecedented NATO activity near Russia\u2019s western borders.
