Maersk continues to renew its fleet and receives the new container ship “Maersk Frio,” built at the Chinese shipyard of Tsuneishi Zhoushan.<\/p>\n
The container ship “Maersk Frio” (IMO 1013365), flying the flag of Singapore, has been delivered two months after the shipping company received its sister ship, “Maersk Finisterre” (IMO 1013353), also flagged in Singapore.<\/p>\n
The ship “Maersk Frio” is the second of a total of four dual-fuel container ships ordered in 2023. These units are being built under long-term charter contracts for Maersk, reinforcing its energy transition strategy.<\/p>\n
The vessel features a dual-fuel propulsion system capable of operating on both methanol and conventional fuel oil. With a capacity of 5,915 TEU, a length of 265 meters, and a beam of 37.6 meters, it is equipped with a MAN B&W methanol engine of over 28,000 kW and has the capacity for 1,400 refrigerated containers, making it suitable for transporting high-value perishable goods.<\/p>\n
After its delivery, the container ship enters service on the Thailand\u2013Malaysia\u2013Strait route, operated within the Gemini network.<\/p>\n
