This Saturday, 13th September, À Punt will offer a special session for all bullfighting enthusiasts. The public broadcaster has scheduled a double feature starting at 1 PM with the new episode of the programme ‘La Plaça’. This week, journalist Jorge Casals will present exclusive footage of bullfighter Juan Ortega handling a bull in the town of Burriana, among other reports.
Later in the afternoon, from 6 PM, a new episode of the historic bullfights retrieved from the Valencian radio and television archive will be broadcast. This episode will feature the lineup from the 1995 July Fair in Valencia, where César Rincón, Enrique Ponce, and Vicente Barrera performed.
During those fair days, both Ponce and Barrera performed again. In the first, a mano a mano between the two Valencians, Ponce emerged victorious, while in the second occasion, Barrera was the one who exited through the main gate. At that time, there was great anticipation to see them alongside Colombian César Rincón, who had just opened the main gate at Las Ventas and was also maintaining a rivalry with Enrique Ponce at all the fairs.
To complete the weekend’s bullfighting schedule, on Sunday, 15th September, a live bullfight on horseback will be broadcast from the Albacete bullring. The event will take place at 6 PM featuring a lineup of three stars, including Alicante’s Andy Cartagena, who will perform alongside Diego Ventura and Lea Vicens, all from Los Esparteles. The event will be narrated by journalist Jorge Casals, who will be joined by Ontinyent’s horseback bullfighter, Pablo Donat.
Second season of ‘Terra de Bous’ on À Punt Ràdio
On another note, the programme ‘Terra de Bous’, which airs on À Punt Ràdio on Fridays from 6 to 7 PM, begins its second season with a commitment to cover novice bullfighters and fairs in the Valencian Community. The programme, directed and presented by Germà Estela, will feature two guests this week: Juan Antonio Esplá and his son, Santiago Esplá, who will be the protagonist next Saturday, 20th September, in the second semi-final of the Circuit Valencià de Novillades to be held in Algemesí in the recently restored original rectangular square.
