La ceremonia tuvo lugar en la intersecci\u00f3n de Sixth Avenue y la mencionada West 8th, en Greenwich Village, a una cuadra del hist\u00f3rico Electric Lady Studios. El acto, que hab\u00eda sido postergado desde febrero por una serie de tormentas de nieve, cont\u00f3 con la presencia de figuras del mundo de la m\u00fasica y representantes del gobierno de Nueva York.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La iniciativa fue impulsada por el concejal del Distrito 2, Harvey Epstein, y por Experience Hendrix, el sello administrado por la familia del guitarrista. <strong>Janie Hendrix, hermana del m\u00fasico, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que la petici\u00f3n para renombrar la calle se remonta a la muerte de Jimi, en 1970<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It&#8217;s official&#8230; This morning New York City officially and permanently co-named West 8th Street as Jimi Hendrix Way.  ? En un momento, la familia del m\u00fasico tambi\u00e9n impuls\u00f3 la aparici\u00f3n de <a href=\"https:\/\/indiehoy.com\/historias\/los-4-musicos-que-jimi-hendrix-adoraba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Hendrix<\/a> en un sello postal, un logro que finalmente se concret\u00f3 hace 12 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entre los asistentes a la ceremonia estuvieron <strong>Vernon Reid<\/strong> de Living Colour, la cantautora<strong> Valerie Simpson<\/strong>, <strong>Felicia Collins<\/strong> y el ingeniero de sonido <strong>Eddie Kramer<\/strong>, uno de los art\u00edfices del dise\u00f1o de Electric Lady Studios.
