Here’s a look at where things stand at the midway point of the U.S. Open<\/p>\n

Justin Thomas (-1) The cut line will lock in at 4-over.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n He missed a few birdie looks down the stretch, so Scottie Scheffler is stuck at E after his 2-under 68 today.<\/p>\n He\u2019ll enter the weekend seven shots back.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Playing near his hometown, James Nicholas opened the U.S. Open on Thursday and then secured a spot in the weekend with a par save at the last today.<\/p>\n What a moment for him and his family.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Rory McIlroy is in the clubhouse after his second round, and the back nine wasn\u2019t great. He posted a 1-over 71 today with three bogeys and a double on the back, but he did close with three straight pars to level off a bit.<\/p>\n He\u2019s now at E on the week, and will enter Moving Day seven shots off the lead.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Sam Burns just three putted for bogey at the last to wrap up his round. That\u2019s a bad miss, and not how you want to finish.<\/p>\n He\u2019s now 1-under on the week, six back of Wyndham Clark.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Scottie Scheffler had an eagle look at the fifth, but a tap-in birdie works. He\u2019s back to E for the week.<\/p>\n Even one more birdie the rest of the way would make a huge difference for him entering the weekend.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Finally, Rory has a par on the back nine. He had to work for it after overshooting the green at the 16th, but he got it.<\/p>\n He\u2019s now seven back with two holes left tonight.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Patrick Reed just sank an eagle putt at the fifth. While he’s way back, that moved him to 4-over for the week.<\/p>\n He’ll need another birdie or two to be safe, but Reed is now inside the projected cutline. We’ll see how he finishes here.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Well, Rory McIlroy\u2019s back nine is all over the place. He\u2019s somehow yet to card a par after making the turn.<\/p>\n McIlroy just made a double at the 15th after overshooting the green and then sending his chip back into the bunker. Not great.<\/p>\n He\u2019s now at E for the week.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Sam Stevens rallied perfectly after a pair of early bogeys \u2014 and a double bogey on his very first hole of the tournament \u2014 and he\u2019s officially in with a 1-under 69 today.<\/p>\n That pushed him to 3-under, safely in with the group tied for second. The 29-year-old out of Wichita has never won on Tour, but he did go T23 at the U.S. Open last season for his best major finish.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Make it back-to-back birdies for Rory McIlroy now, this time from DEEP! He started laughing immediately once it fell.<\/p>\n He’s back to 2-under now, tied for fifth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Keith Mitchell is having a ridiculous first two days at Shinnecock. After his 41-29 rollercoaster on Thursday, he just sank a 55-footer to save a bogey. Wild.<\/p>\n Mitchell is at 1-over now for the week.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n The skid is over, and Rory McIlroy is back in the red. He stuck his approach at the 13th less than a foot from the cup to set up an easy birdie, and he’s now back under par for the week.<\/p>\n This final stretch for him will be critical entering the weekend.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ryan Young<\/p>\n Rory\u2019s slide is getting worse. That\u2019s a third straight bogey for him now, and he\u2019s back to E for the week. Not great\u2026<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Jay Hart<\/p>\n After making the turn at 2-under for his round, Rory McIlroy has given them both back after two bogeys at 10 and 11. He\u2019s back to -1, six shots back of Wyndham Clark, whose lead is safe.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Jay Hart<\/p>\n 3 putts from 2 feet \u2026 that\u2019s rough, but that\u2019s what Max Greyserman just did. He had a 20-footer for birdie at No. 9, only to walk off the green with a double bogey. From -3 to -1<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Jay Hart<\/p>\n Sam Burns has a blemish-free scorecard so far today, and has mixed in four birdies to get to 3-under for the tournament. The last birdie came at the very difficult No. 11.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Jay Hart<\/p>\n That led to a bogey, and now McIlroy is at -2.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Jay Hart<\/p>\n Remember when Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson were all in contention?
