Con esta c\u00e9lebre frase uno puede comprender qu\u00e9 es lo que ha llevado a <strong>Royal Birkdale<\/strong> a tomar una decisi\u00f3n como la alcanzada este martes y que tiene tanto a <strong>Jordan Spieth<\/strong> como a <strong>Justin Rose<\/strong> como <strong>grandes protagonistas<\/strong>. A fin de cuentas, ambos jugadores se encuentran estrechamente ligados de una u otra manera a este hist\u00f3rico complejo ubicado en <strong>Southport<\/strong>. Un campo que cuenta con un <strong>largo recorrido<\/strong> en lo que se refiere a la <strong>historia<\/strong> compartida con el <strong>Open<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAgradecemos las <strong>amables palabras<\/strong> que nos han dedicado ambos jugadores y esperamos darles la bienvenida de nuevo a <strong>Birkdale<\/strong> como miembros durante muchos a\u00f1os\u201d, escribi\u00f3 el club en redes sociales, al mismo tiempo que se\u00f1alaba que se hab\u00eda obsequiado a <strong>Spieth<\/strong> y a <strong>Rose<\/strong> con la <strong>corbata del club<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cabe recordar que el deportista ingl\u00e9s termin\u00f3 como <strong>mejor amateur<\/strong> para ganar la <strong>Medalla de Plata<\/strong> en la edici\u00f3n disputada en este mismo escenario en <strong>1998<\/strong>. <strong>Justin Rose<\/strong> finaliz\u00f3 en la <strong>cuarta posici\u00f3n<\/strong> para lograr en esos momentos el mejor resultado de un amateur desde <strong>1953<\/strong> y la mejor actuaci\u00f3n de un golfista de <strong>17 a\u00f1os<\/strong> desde que <strong>Young Tom Morris<\/strong> se hiciera con la victoria en <strong>1868<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cLa del <strong>98<\/strong> fue una <strong>semana m\u00e1gica<\/strong>\u201d, reconoci\u00f3 el propio deportista brit\u00e1nico. \u201cNunca he sentido una <strong>emoci\u00f3n tan grande<\/strong> como la que tuve en ese green del 18 cuando emboqu\u00e9 el golpe. He tenido momentos <strong>satisfactorios<\/strong> en campos de golf, pero ninguno as\u00ed\u201d, a\u00f1adi\u00f3. Un recuerdo que se une al de <strong>Spieth<\/strong>, quien se llev\u00f3 la <strong>Jarra de Clarete<\/strong> en <strong>2017<\/strong>, la \u00faltima vez que el <strong>Open<\/strong> visit\u00f3 <strong>Royal Birkdale<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El americano aventaj\u00f3 en <strong>tres golpes<\/strong> a <strong>Matt Kuchar<\/strong> en un brillante final para igualar a <strong>Jack Nicklaus<\/strong> al lograr su <strong>tercer Major<\/strong> a los veintitr\u00e9s a\u00f1os. \u201cEs la <strong>mayor euforia<\/strong> que he experimentado nunca como golfista\u201d, confes\u00f3 el texano en ese momento.
