The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a low-pressure system in the northeastern Atlantic that could develop subtropical or tropical characteristics as it moves toward Portugal and Spain.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring tw0 areas of low pressure in the northern Atlantic Ocean near Europe.
“A non-tropical area of low pressure is developing along a front over the northeastern Atlantic a few hundred miles north-northeast of the Azores. This system could separate from its front and acquire some subtropical or tropical characteristics on Saturday or early Sunday while it moves east-southeastward at 10 to 15 mph toward Portugal and northwestern Spain,” the National Hurricane Center said in its tropical weather outlook on Friday, Aug. 21 at 5 a.m.
