Packing for almost a month in Europe isn’t easy, especially when your itinerary includes everything from beach days along the Mediterranean to city sightseeing, long-haul flights and unpredictable weather. On this trip, I experienced sweltering temperatures in Italy, chilly and rainy afternoons in France, countless miles of walking and a few airports and cruise terminals thrown in for good measure. As my trip wound down, it was obvious which items had earned a permanent place on my packing list.

European hotels aren’t exactly known for stocking luxurious haircare products (why is that?) and conditioner can be surprisingly hard to come by. I always pack a nourishing hair mask and this one helped revive my hair after days spent in the sun, salt water and dry airplane cabins. At this point, traveling without Apple AirTags is a rookie mistake. I tucked one into every suitcase, my crossbody bag and even my wallet for added peace of mind. Whether you’re checking luggage or simply keeping track of your everyday essentials while hopping between cities, they’re one of the smartest travel investments you can make. There really is no reason to NOT know where your stuff is anymore.

Europe was experiencing an intense heat wave during my trip and this little fan was nothing short of a lifesaver. I ended up buying one for every member of my family because sharing just wasn’t an option in those temperatures. When the sun is relentless, a visor can make all the difference. Airplane cabins are usually colder than expected, especially on overnight flights. Each of my kids carried one of these in their backpacks and despite taking up a little too much space, they were worth every inch.
