Flight delays are expected for aircraft flying to and from Israel due to air traffic control disruptions in Europe, the Israel Airports Authority<\/a> (IAA) said in an X\/Twitter post on Monday.<\/p>\n

“Due to a malfunction in the Eurocontrol system in Brussels<\/a>, disruptions to the flight schedule in European airspace are expected,” the spokesperson said. “As a result, there is a high probability of prolonged delays in departing and arriving flights in the coming hours, until Eurocontrol completes the troubleshooting and returns to regular operations.”<\/p>\n

The IAA<\/a> recommended that all passengers check directly with their airline for any schedule changes to their flights.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The announcement follows an air traffic control outage in Greece<\/a> on Sunday, during which thousands of passengers were delayed as flights across Greece were grounded for several hours.<\/p>\n

It is still unclear to Greek authorities what caused the outage, which occured during a busy weekend.<\/p>\n

Overflights were still permitted over the country during the outage, Greece’s civil aviation authority said.<\/p>\n

“For some reason, all frequencies were suddenly lost… We could not communicate with aircraft in the sky,” chair of the Association of Greek Air Traffic Controllers, Panagiotis Psarros, told state broadcaster ERT.<\/p>\n
