A new policy brief<\/a> by Cedefop identifies engineers, installers, and similar occupations are becoming more important in the European Union (EU) as the continent moves towards a greener economy.<\/p>\n

The study reveals that 92% of EU firms are taking action to reduce emissions. Despite this, 79% report skills shortages as a barrier to investment.<\/p>\n

The European Commission<\/a> says talent shortages are one of the biggest challenges to scaling the green transition. <\/p>\n

As part of the European Skills & VET Week, the publication analysed online job advertisements to track labour market demand in near real-time, highlighting rapidly growing occupations that are not yet fully captured in existing occupational classifications. <\/p>\n

The report highlights the need to keep education and training up to date, help workers develop skills, and make it easier to move into growing occupations. To support this objective, the report sets out six priorities, including modernising vocational education and training, promoting transferable skills and targeted reskilling pathways, as well as supporting regional transition strategies.<\/p>\n
