Washington Examiner editorial director Hugo Gurdon<\/a> said frustration over the Spain<\/a> border crisis could lead to conflict within the European Union<\/a> and criticized the government for failing to control the issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re led by one government after another from different parties, and none of them seems to be strong enough or determined enough,\u201d Gurdon said Tuesday on Fox News\u2019s Fox and Friends. \u201cNone of them has the will to make sure that Europe<\/a> is kept for the Europeans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDay after day, month after month, masses, thousands of immigrants<\/a>, are coming in,\u201d Gurdon said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thousands of migrants <\/a>rushed to Spain\u2019s border last week. Dozens died during the crossing, with officials saying migrants were accessing Ceuta, the Spanish port, both by land through the Moroccan<\/a> border and by swimming across the Strait of Gibraltar.<\/p>\n

Ceuta is likely seen as an easy entry point due to its more relaxed border restrictions and its proximity to the Spanish mainland.<\/p>\n

Gurdon argued that Spanish voters did not have a say in border<\/a> restrictions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are very frustrated because they have never said that they want all of these immigrants, they have never been asked, they have never voted for it,\u201d Gurdon said.<\/p>\n

Gurdon compared the issue to socialism, saying that U.S. socialist candidates support open-border policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cSocialism<\/a> is an international movement,\u201d Gurdon said.<\/p>\n

Gurdon praised President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> efforts to secure the U.S. border, arguing that Europe is now experiencing the consequences of open-border policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis could ultimately break up the EU,\u201d Gurdon said, as countries such as Italy have announced suspensions on its free-travel pact<\/a> with Spain, according to Fox News.<\/p>\n
