Here&#8217;s how to stay cool off under a blazing heat dome<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>If you were considering a last-minute getaway to Europe before summer slips away, you may just want to wait. <\/p>\n<p>Choosing to travel in late September or October, also known as fall &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/travel\/news\/2025-09-15-shoulder-season-travel-weather-fall\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shoulder season<\/a>,&#8221; helps you avoid the dangerous heat as well as the bulk of the tourists.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"August Europe temperature outlook\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"180\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"shadow-md rounded-lg object-contain h-auto w-full\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1786271571_856_AG2-Aug-Temp-Europe-0806-d54ca5.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"m-0 text-gray-500\">(AG2\/The Weather Company)<\/p>\n<p>Europe&#8217;s sweltering summer<\/p>\n<p>This summer has been hot, sweaty and deadly across Europe, with <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/2026\/07\/19\/news\/weather\/europes-early-heat-wave-may-have-killed-over-10000\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">thousands of deaths<\/a> recorded this summer already.  <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/2026\/06\/23\/news\/weather\/dangerous-record-heat-wave-europe-france-uk-forecast\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">heat wave in late June<\/a> was historic in nature \u2014 smashing records in France, Spain and the UK for the hottest June day. <\/p>\n<p>And that was just one in a long line of heat waves we&#8217;ve seen over the past few months.<\/p>\n<p>(MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/2026\/08\/05\/news\/romania-military-explosives-danube-nuclear-plant-drought\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Europe is putting explosives in riverbeds to combat historic drought<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>So, why are they happening so frequently? Climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Europe is the <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/2026\/07\/08\/news\/climate\/video\/climate-change-why-europe-is-fastest-warming-continent\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fastest warming continent<\/a>.
