They fear the same tactics are now being applied in Hungary\u2019s elections. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/news\/virginia-gop-unleashes-volunteer-army-154329171.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:(RELATED: Virginia GOP Unleashes Volunteer Army To Stop Democrat Gerrymandering Power Grab);elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">(RELATED: Virginia GOP Unleashes Volunteer Army To Stop Democrat Gerrymandering Power Grab)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>International election observers are intended to operate as independent third parties, tasked with assessing how democratically an election is conducted and how accurately the results are recorded and reported.<\/p>\n<p>Jake Hoffman, for instance, is an American observer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fakeobservers.org\/fake-election-observers.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:labeled;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">labeled<\/a> by the European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE) as a \u201cfake observer,\u201d a designation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fakeobservers.org\/fake-election-observers\/methodology.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:granted;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">granted<\/a> to \u201cgroups and individuals who lack independent credibility and methodology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hoffman has helped write election-integrity legislation in Florida, has rub a 501(c)(4) focused on election integrity around the U.S., has written reports and documents on the vulnerabilities of U.S. elections and has <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jakehoffmanfl\/status\/1974587424878579780\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:observed;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">observed<\/a> elections in the country of Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>EPDE, which says it\u2019s funded by the EU, states on its website that Hoffman is a Republican who holds \u201cinstitutional affiliation to the Tampa Bay Young Republicans and Florida Young Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>International observers from the Young Republican National Federation, the International Organization for the Family, Republicans for National Renewal and the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) were allegedly set to observe Serbia\u2019s March election, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/balkaninsight.com\/2026\/03\/27\/serbian-pro-govt-ngo-enlists-right-wing-maga-groups-to-observe-elections\/bi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Balkan Insight\u2019s;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Balkan Insight\u2019s<\/a> media publication BIRN, which deemed them \u201cright-wing, pro-Trump\u201d U.S. groups.<\/p>\n<p>AFPI denied sending observers after BIRN published the article.<\/p>\n<p>Rasa Nedeljkov, programme director of the Centre for Research, Transparency and Accountability (CRTA), which is still under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/ASST_NON_72016923CA00002_072\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:contract;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">contract<\/a> for $3.4 million from USAID, slammed \u201cfake observers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we have are fake observers with foreign passports and interpreters directly linked to the authorities,\u201d he said, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat raises additional concern this week,\u201d he told BIRN. \u201cIt is clear they want to create noise in the public sphere and undermine genuine observation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hoffman told the Caller that he expects many large organizations to stop participating in international election integrity efforts to avoid negative press.<\/p>\n<p>Hoffman claimed that the NGOs discrediting international right-wing observers are simultaneously taking the statements from \u201cdomestic opposition liberal observers\u201d at face value.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to see the report that they\u2019ve given to anybody on the left that said they were disqualified or not qualified enough to be an election observer because they\u2019re too far left,\u201d Hoffman said.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the presidency of Serbia\u2019s majority party SNS, Nemanja Zavi\u0161i\u0107, told the Caller that the election in March ran smoothly \u2014 unlike past elections only observed by liberal European NGOs.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the groups that observed Serbia\u2019s 2022 election include <a href=\"https:\/\/crta.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Elections-2022-CRTA-Full-Report.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:CRTA;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">CRTA<\/a> and the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations, which consists of 22 non profits and NGOS. The group lists the EU as a past donor on its <a href=\"https:\/\/enemo.org\/donors\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:website;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zavi\u0161i\u0107 said the American-based observers visited polling stations in municipalities across Serbia and came away believing that the U.S. should adopt some Serbian election policies, including requiring a valid ID to cast a ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Zavi\u0161i\u0107 said that despite the American observers having legally applied, the \u201cleft-liberal NGOs and globalist media\u201d pushed the fake observer narrative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThroughout the years, those leftist NGOs were the only ones observing the elections, and their reports were always biased, especially in the countries where sovereignists are in power, such as Romania, Georgia, Hungary and now Serbia,\u201d Zavi\u0161i\u0107 said. \u201cIt is very clear that their goal is to try and show the European public that elections in Serbia are not held in a legal procedure, although that has nothing to do with the reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/8dff90b4e36340f38bc13ec2f5084932.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>WASHINGTON, DC \u2013 SEPTEMBER 04: (L-R) President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and U.S. President Donald Trump attend a signing ceremony and meeting in the Oval Office of the White House on September 4, 2020 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Anna Moneymaker-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Although Zavi\u0161i\u0107 claims the election went smoothly, CRTA <a href=\"https:\/\/crta.rs\/crta-o-izbornom-danu-nasilje-ostavlja-u-senci-sve-druge-probleme\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:rated;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">rated<\/a> election day between \u201cbad to worst,\u201d citing systemic fraud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe election day bluntly confirmed what was already seen during the campaign,\u201d CRTA\u2019s final report concluded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn short, this can hardly be called an election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hoffman and his Republican cohorts were also brought up in a post-election report by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.occrp.org\/en\/news\/violence-and-us-influencers-mar-serbias-local-elections\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP);elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP)<\/a>. Speaking of the observers, the report claimed, \u201cRather than objectively observing the election, watchdogs argue they functioned as imported content creators, providing the ruling party with a sanitized digital alibi while actual voters faced intimidation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OCCRP claimed that 29% of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/global-development\/2025\/feb\/11\/trump-usaid-cuts-freeze-press-freedom-ukraine-afghanistan-media-rsf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:funding;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">funding<\/a> was frozen after USAID was slashed, The Guardian reported in February 2025. OCCRP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niemanlab.org\/2025\/04\/this-news-outlet-is-leading-the-fight-against-trumps-foreign-aid-funding-freeze\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:received;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">received<\/a> 38% of its funding from the U.S. government in 2024, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niemanlab.org\/2025\/04\/this-news-outlet-is-leading-the-fight-against-trumps-foreign-aid-funding-freeze\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:NiemanLab;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">NiemanLab<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They also received funding from Soros\u2019 Open Society Foundations, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediapart.fr\/en\/journal\/international\/021224\/hidden-links-between-giant-investigative-journalism-and-us-government\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:MediaPart reported in 2024;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">MediaPart reported in 2024<\/a>, and they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/E-10-2025-002383-ASW_EN.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:awarded;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">awarded<\/a> EU funding after USAID was defunded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese guys are literally taking money,\u201d Hoffman said about the NGOs. \u201cThey are state-sponsored media. And they have to kind of do this disassociation where they\u2019re pretending that they\u2019re independent journalists. And I\u2019m the biased one, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zavi\u0161i\u0107 told the Caller that the left-wing Soros-funded NGOs \u201ccan by no means be called non-governmental, as they are funded precisely by governments whose interests they represent in the countries where they operate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, as the Hungarian election draws near, Hoffman is concerned that similar talking points of international election interference have already taken place.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/8b60011fedc7df0937f395fde2343505.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>TOPSHOT \u2013 US Vice President JD Vance (R) and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban shake hands on stage during a \u201cDay of Friendship\u201d event at MTK Sportpark in Budapest, Hungary on April 7, 2026. (Photo by Jonathan Ernst \/ POOL \/ AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Vice President JD Vance endorsed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n, and he visited Budapest in April to rally support for the country\u2019s leader, The Guardian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2026\/apr\/07\/jd-vance-eu-interference-hungary-election-viktor-orban\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:reported;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">reported<\/a>.
