Yields move inversely to prices.<a class=\"linkCtaMainHead\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/markets\/bonds\/rising-interest-in-retail-trading-of-high-yield-corporate-bonds-reflects-shifting-investor-strategies-in-a-changing-market\/articleshow\/133334749.cms\" data-ga-onclick=\"Bonds JIRAAF#Click 133334749#Articles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Retail trading in high-yield corporate bonds gains momentum<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Online platforms now offer retail investors access to corporate bonds. These securities provide mid-teen yields with low minimum investments. Retail investors are increasingly participating in the corporate bond market. This trend is driven by flat equity markets and regulatory changes. Online platforms and reduced face values ease investor access to debt.<\/p>\n<p>Investors and analysts said a small rally in \u200bU.S. Treasuries, the dominant global bond market which influences the rest of the world, was helping sentiment. U.S. 10-year Treasury yields finished Tuesday 2 bps lower after rising to their highest \u200bsince early 2025, in the wake of some weaker-than-expected house \u2060construction and industrial \u200cproduction data. They were down a further 2 bps on Wednesday.<br \/>&#8220;Bond \u200bmarkets are \u200bshowing tentative signs of stabilisation,&#8221; said Hauke Siemssen, rates strategist at \u2060Commerzbank. &#8220;Nonetheless, yields have breached crucial levels.&#8221;<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ET logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/118783427.cms.png\" width=\"90%\"\/>Live Events<br \/>Oil prices remained elevated, however, \u200bwith Brent crude up 1% to $91.60, around its highest since late \u200bJuly. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday no talks were taking place with Iran and insisted the Strait of Hormuz was open, contradicting Iran&#8217;s assertion that the critical waterway remained closed and adding to the upward pressure on energy prices.<br \/>Longer-dated bonds, which tend to reflect expectations about the economy and government borrowing rather than central bank interest rates, \u200cwere at the epicentre of Tuesday&#8217;s selloff. Analysts and investors said a rise in oil prices stoking inflation and high levels of government and \u200bAI &#8220;hyperscaler&#8221; borrowing were major \u200bconcerns, while resilient economic \u2060growth was another factor pushing yields higher.France&#8217;s 30-year Treasury yield rose to its highest since 2008 above 4.9% but was last down 1 bp on Wednesday as the selling eased.<\/p>\n<p>Siemssen \u200bsaid the rise in French yields relative to German stood out, &#8220;with the French budget season and next year&#8217;s elections looming large&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The closely watched spread between the country&#8217;s 10-year yields rose to its highest since October 2025 on Tuesday above 86 bps and was last at 85 bps.
