And this is, of course, a duty of the State, in this case of the Spanish authorities, to guarantee it,\u201d the spokesperson said at a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that while this is Spain\u2019s duty, the EU Commission maintains a \u201cclear expectation\u201d that all migrants who entered the enclave irregularly have to return to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2026\/08\/334675\/why-morocco-is-pushing-back-against-spains-political-exploitation-of-ceuta-crisis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Morocco<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/efe.com\/euro-efe\/2026-08-20\/ce-reitera-expectativa-espana-devuelva-todos-migrantes-ceuta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a> this demand does not exclude minors, stressing the Commission is working with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2026\/08\/335472\/authorities-in-ceuta-evacuate-migrants-from-el-trampolin-beach\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Spain<\/a> and Morocco to help achieve the migrants\u2019 return with full respect for both EU and international law.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson also pledged EU support to see controls further strengthened, a demand shared by different states in the EU \u2013 stressing Brussels is willing to support Madrid and Rabat to reinforce borders.<\/p>\n<p>Morocco has responded to criticism from far-right politicians and the People\u2019s Party (PP), which have been targeting Morocco and accusing it of being responsible for the crossing despite Rabat\u2019s efforts in tackling migration with limited resources and funds.<\/p>\n<p>Morocco urged Spanish authorities to return all migrants who remain in the enclave, including minors, calling on Spain to assume its responsibility and speed up the process \u2013 recalling that its efforts to tackle migration are not limited to a specific date.<\/p>\n<p>The EU Commission spokesperson emphasized that Brussels took note of Morocco\u2019s commitment to facilitate the return of all migrants.
