We took our country back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a massive gathering in Budapest, Magyar, the leader of the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/world\/hungary-election-opposition-party-tisza-widens-lead-over-trumpbacked-orban-13983586.html\" id=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/world\/hungary-election-opposition-party-tisza-widens-lead-over-trumpbacked-orban-13983586.html\" class=\"body_anchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tisza party<\/a>, said the victory was so large, it was \u201cvisible from the moon and every window in Hungary.\u201d \u201cNever in the history of democratic Hungary have so many people voted, and no other party has ever received such a big mandate,\u201d Magyar said, adding that his party will secure a supermajority of more than two-thirds of the seats in the parliament.<\/p>\n<p>STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD<\/p>\n<p>He went on to thank his voters, noting that 3.3 million people had supported him, the highest number any Hungarian party has ever received. The historic address from Hungary\u2019s premier came right after the country\u2019s longtime PM<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/world\/orban-loses-power-in-hungary-after-16-year-rule-as-peter-magyar-wins-landslide-13999591.html\" id=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/world\/orban-loses-power-in-hungary-after-16-year-rule-as-peter-magyar-wins-landslide-13999591.html\" class=\"body_anchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Viktor Orban had conceded defeat<\/a> in the country\u2019s parliamentary election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrime Minister Viktor Orban just called to congratulate us on our victory,\u201d Magyar posted on social media on Sunday as the results rolled in. With 97.35 per cent of the votes counted, Magyar\u2019s centre-right party secured 138 seats in the 199-seat parliament. Meanwhile, Orban\u2019s Fidesz managed to secure only 55 seats.<\/p>\n<p>Magyar pledges for closer ties with the EU<\/p>\n<p>During his speech, Magyar promised the gathering in Budapest that he would steer Hungary back towards the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/tech\/shein-has-addictive-design-european-union-probes-chinese-fast-fashion-platform-13981071.html\" id=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/tech\/shein-has-addictive-design-european-union-probes-chinese-fast-fashion-platform-13981071.html\" class=\"body_anchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">European Union<\/a> after years of tension with the regional bloc and the outgoing Orb\u00e1n government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHungarians said \u2018yes\u2019 to Europe,\u201d Magyar declared, saying that his new government will reintegrate Hungary into the European Union\u2019s judicial system. Hungary is again going to be a very strong ally of the European Union and NATO,\u201d Magyar said.<\/p>\n<p>The Tisza leader told supporters that he plans on travelling first to Poland as prime minister, then to Vienna, and finally to Brussels, where the European Parliament convenes. \u201cHungary has been in Europe for 1000 years and is going to stay there,\u201d Magyar said.<\/p>\n<p>Hence, Orban\u2019s loss will likely put an end to Hungary\u2019s adversarial role inside the EU, possibly opening the way for a 90 billion euro ($105bn) loan to war-battered Ukraine, which had been blocked by Orban.
