{"id":124993,"date":"2026-08-27T15:13:49","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T15:13:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/124993\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T15:13:49","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T15:13:49","slug":"end-of-life-vehicles-environment-european-commission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/124993\/","title":{"rendered":"End-of-Life Vehicles &#8211; Environment &#8211; European Commission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Regulation on circularity requirements for vehicle design and on management of end-of-life vehicles<a>\u00a0<\/a>replaces and modernises the framework introduced by the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive (2000\/53\/EC), which established common EU rules on the collection and environmentally sound treatment of end-of-life vehicles, restricted the use of hazardous substances and introduced targets for reuse, recycling and recovery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new Regulation also replaces\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A02005L0064-20090203\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Directive 2005\/64\/EC on the type-approval of motor vehicles with regard to their reusability, recyclability and recoverability<\/a> (\u201c3R type-approval Directive\u201d, adopted in 2005), which established basic rules on the recyclability of new vehicles as a condition for their access to the EU market.<\/p>\n<p>Since these Directives were adopted, vehicles have become more complex and increasingly advanced, with more electronics, plastics, and other materials, including critical raw materials.<\/p>\n<p>The new Regulation responds to these developments by introducing circularity requirements, mandatory recycled-content obligations, stronger producer responsibility, improved vehicle traceability and higher standards for dismantling and material recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Together, this improves both the demand and the supply sides of recycled materials and vehicle parts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Regulation on circularity requirements for vehicle design and on management of end-of-life vehicles\u00a0replaces and modernises the framework&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":700,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2385],"tags":[2180,1721,5665,256,4236,1722],"class_list":["post-124993","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-european-commission","tag-circular-economy","tag-environmental-policy","tag-environmental-protection","tag-european-commission","tag-road-transport","tag-waste-management"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/124993","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=124993"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/124993\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/700"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=124993"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=124993"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=124993"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
