{"id":26969,"date":"2026-04-30T07:40:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T07:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/26969\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T07:40:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T07:40:13","slug":"turkiye-invited-to-european-political-community-summit-in-yerevan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/26969\/","title":{"rendered":"T\u00fcrkiye invited to European Political Community summit in Yerevan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            ANKARA<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/69f2f101f93a205161835e5b.jpg\" alt=\"T\u00fcrkiye invited to European Political Community summit in Yerevan\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"T\u00fcrkiye\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/turkiye\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">T\u00fcrkiye<\/a> has been invited to the eighth meeting of the European Political Community, which will be held in the Armenian capital Yerevan on May 4.<\/p>\n<p>The summit will bring together leaders from across the continent under the motto \u201cBuilding the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe,\u201d according to the European Council.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will be co-chaired by European Council President Ant\u00f3nio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Leaders are expected to discuss democratic resilience, connectivity, and economic and energy security.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 48 heads of state and government have been invited to the gathering. The invited countries include the 27 EU member states, T\u00fcrkiye, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, <a title=\"Armenia\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/armenia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Armenia<\/a> and several Western Balkan and non-EU European countries.<\/p>\n<p>Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will also attend as a guest, marking the first time a non-European country has participated in an EPC meeting, the European Council said.<\/p>\n<p>The EPC was launched in 2022 as a platform for political dialogue and cooperation among European countries. It aims to strengthen security, stability and prosperity across the continent.<\/p>\n<p>The Yerevan meeting will also provide leaders with an opportunity for bilateral and multilateral contacts on the sidelines.<\/p>\n<p>The invitation comes amid efforts to normalize relations between T\u00fcrkiye and Armenia.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcrkiye and Armenia held a joint working group meeting on the rehabilitation and operationalization of the Kars-Gyumri railway.in the eastern Turkish province of Kars on April 28 under the normalization process between the two countries, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides emphasized the importance of bringing the railway into operation as soon as possible to strengthen regional transport links, according to the ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The European Union welcomed the meeting, saying the restoration of the rail connection would strengthen regional connectivity and deliver \u201cconcrete gains\u201d for populations in the South Caucasus.<\/p>\n<p>The EU also said the momentum in the Armenia-T\u00fcrkiye normalization process reflected broader positive dynamics in the region and encouraged full normalization between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>The European Council said the Yerevan summit will take place ahead of the first EU-Armenia bilateral summit.
