His dinner\u2019s guest list includes Galician President Alfonso Rueda and Suso Pereira, head of the association of traditional octopus cooks.<\/p>\n
In an April email to MEPs and assistants seen by POLITICO, V\u00e1zquez made clear this is more than a culinary gripe, pointing to Galicia\u2019s fishing sector. \u201cFollowing the notorious fake\u00a0polbo \u00e1 feira\u00a0that we discovered in the canteen, the time has come to put this sector back in the spotlight,\u201d V\u00e1zquez writes. \u201cIn the spirit of this sacred mission, I am delighted to invite you to a real Galician\u00a0feira.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe promised that in Parliament they would get to know the traditional recipe, and we are delivering,\u201d V\u00e1zquez told POLITICO, pointing to plans to scale back fisheries policy.<\/p>\n
\u201cGalicia is Europe\u2019s leading fishing power, and we cannot stop fighting every battle to ensure it remains so,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not the first food flare-up in EU institutions.
