\n\tParis- and Berlin-based international sales company Salaud Morisset<\/a> has closed key European deals on Eivind Landsvik\u2019s debut feature \u201cLow Expectations,\u201d which stars singer-songwriter Marie Ulven a.k.a. Girl in Red<\/a>. The film will have its world premiere in Directors\u2019 Fortnight in Cannes.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong the first wave of buyers, UFO Distribution (\u201cFlow,\u201d \u201cThe Chef,\u201d \u201cThe Outrun\u201d) has acquired rights for France and Pandora Film Verleih (\u201cSilent Friend,\u201d \u201cSir\u00e2t,\u201d \u201cArmand\u201d) has secured Germany and Austria. The film will be distributed in Scandinavia by Nordisk Film Distribution (\u201cSentimental Value,\u201d \u201cLoveable\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Norwegian film follows Maja at the height of her music career as her life begins to fall apart, forcing her to step away from her ambitions. She returns home to live with her mother and takes a part-time job at a local high school, where she works alongside Johannes (Anders Danielsen Lie). Far from the spotlight, wrapped in everyday kindness, she slowly finds her way back to life.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBuyers have responded strongly to the film\u2019s resonance with today\u2019s society, its connection to a younger generation, and the growing appeal of Norwegian cinema,\u201d Salaud Morisset said.<\/p>\n

\n\tSt\u00e9phane Auclaire from UFO Distribution said: \u201cWe were truly touched by \u2018Low Expectations,\u2019 especially by its gentle and deeply human take on mental health, handled with warmth, sensitivity and a refreshing sense of hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by Lotte Sandbu and Synn\u00f8ve H\u00f8rsdal for Maipo Film, in co-production with Snowglobe, the film received the support of the Norwegian Film Institute, Oslo Filmfond and the Danish Film Institute as well as Nordisk Film and TV Fond and Eurimages.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is scheduled for a Norwegian theatrical release on Sept. 11.<\/p>\n
