{"id":3719,"date":"2026-04-01T15:25:05","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T15:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/3719\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T15:25:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T15:25:05","slug":"polish-companies-sign-mou-on-bwrx-300-reactor-projects-across-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/3719\/","title":{"rendered":"Polish Companies Sign MoU On BWRX-300 Reactor Projects Across Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Poland-based small modular reactor (SMR) project developer SGE has signed a memorandum of understanding with Polish construction group Polimex Mostostal and Polish engineering company ATEC Group to cooperate on the development and deployment of SMRs in Central and Eastern Europe. <\/p>\n<p>The agreement focuses on implementing the <a href=\"https:\/\/smr.nucnet.org\/reactor\/bwrx-300\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BWRX-300<\/a>, developed by GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy. <\/p>\n<p>SGE said it is advancing partnerships and projects based on the BWRX-300 across more than half a dozen European countries.<\/p>\n<p>The MoU aims to foster collaboration between the companies and establish working groups to explore potential projects in Central and Eastern Europe. <\/p>\n<p>SGE said the signing of the MoU underlines the continued commitment of the three companies to the development of nuclear energy and the strengthening of the supply chain for SMR projects in Poland and across the region.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s flagship project is in Poland, where, in cooperation with state-controlled energy company Orlen, SGE has been preparing for development at three separate sites \u2013 Wlowlawek, central Poland, Ostrolaka, northeastern Poland, and Stawy Monowskie, in the south of the country. It is expecting to complete the first unit near Wloclawek by 2032.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2023, the SGE-Orlen\u00a0joint venture OSGE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nucnet.org\/news\/osge-gets-decision-in-principle-for-up-to-24-reactors-at-six-sites-12-4-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">received a decision-in-principle<\/a> for the construction of up to 24 SMRs at six potential sites across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The BWRX-300 is a 300-MW water-cooled, natural circulation SMR with passive safety systems.
