{"id":41238,"date":"2026-05-13T19:59:19","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T19:59:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/41238\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T19:59:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T19:59:19","slug":"lelek-criticise-kan-over-mocked-eurovision-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/41238\/","title":{"rendered":"Lelek criticise KAN over mocked Eurovision performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Croatia\u2019s Eurovision 2026 representatives LELEK have criticised Israeli broadcaster KAN after a social media post appeared to mock their performance during the first semi-final in Vienna.<\/p>\n<p>LELEK respond to KAN post<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Following the first semi-final, KAN Israel shared a post referencing <a href=\"https:\/\/thateurovisionsite.com\/2026\/02\/15\/lelek-will-represent-croatia-at-eurovision-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Croatia\u2019s <\/a>performance: \u201cWhen you exaggerate with the tattooed makeup artist in Eilat\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">In response, LELEK reposted the image on their Instagram story alongside a message condemning the broadcaster\u2019s comments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">The group wrote:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">\u201cWe are disturbed by the comments made by the Israeli broadcaster KAN, in which our culture and the sacrifices made by oppressed Catholic women were mocked. Neither KAN nor the Israeli delegation have issued a public response regarding the criticism from the Croatian representatives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">This is not the first time KAN\u2019s Eurovision coverage has sparked controversy among fans and delegations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">During Eurovision 2024 in Malm\u00f6, Israeli commentators made about several participating countries, including Ukraine, Armenia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Similar complaints also emerged during Eurovision 2025 surrounding commentary linked to the Netherlands and other entries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">The EBU has not previously announced disciplinary action regarding commentary made during KAN\u2019s Eurovision broadcasts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Croatia <a href=\"https:\/\/thateurovisionsite.com\/2026\/05\/12\/eurovision-2026-semi-final-one-qualifiers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">advanced <\/a>from the first semi-final held in Vienna on Tuesday night and later received the producers\u2019 choice for the Grand Final running order.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">What do you think?
