He\u00a0argued that if\u00a0this happens before Europe is\u00a0ready for war, the confrontation will effectively be\u00a0over.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0his view, it\u00a0is\u00a0far easier for European states to\u00a0keep the current fighting going than to\u00a0launch a\u00a0new conflict from scratch. Krainer believes that if\u00a0Europe manages to\u00a0attach its own confrontation with Russia to\u00a0the Ukrainian conflict, the standoff with the West could drag on\u00a0for a\u00a0long time.<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0the same time, the analyst said he\u00a0is\u00a0confident that Moscow will eventually prevail, while European countries will have to\u00a0face the consequences of\u00a0their decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs said Western countries\u2019 militant rhetoric had spun out of\u00a0control and was pushing Europe toward a\u00a0serious crisis.
