{"id":64158,"date":"2026-06-09T10:04:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T10:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/64158\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T10:04:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T10:04:15","slug":"a-fifth-of-eu-enterprises-engage-in-two-way-trade-news-articles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/europe\/64158\/","title":{"rendered":"A fifth of EU enterprises engage in two-way trade &#8211; News articles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">In 2024, 21.3% of <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:European_Union_(EU)\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a> enterprises engaged in international (<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Extra-EU_and_intra-EU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">intra-EU and extra-EU<\/a>) trade in goods were two-way traders, while 70.6% were solely <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Import\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">importers<\/a> and the remaining 8.1% were <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Export\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">exporters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">In terms of value, two-way traders accounted for the vast majority (95.4%) of all goods traded, ahead of enterprises that only imported (3.7%) and those that only exported (0.9%).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/documents\/d\/products-eurostat-news\/enterprise_characteristics_trade_visual_01_1920x1080_v2-100\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Trade by type of trader and value in the EU, 2024. Real estate activities (7.4%), construction (8.4%) and financial and insurance activities (10.3%) had the lowest shares of enterprises engaged in two-way trading.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">On the other hand, the highest shares of enterprises that only import were found in construction (87.3%), real estate activities (86.5%) and financial and insurance activities (82.4%).
