Jeep\u00ae may be an American brand at heart, but Europe is about to play a much bigger role in the brand\u2019s global growth plan. After years of having a fairly thin showroom lineup across the region, Jeep Europe is preparing to expand to six models before 2030, giving the brand more coverage in the hot-selling small SUV, compact SUV, and mid-size SUV segments.<\/p>\n

Right now, Jeep\u2019s European lineup is pretty simple. The Avenger (JJ) handles<\/a> the small B-segment side of the business, while the new Compass (J4U)<\/a> moves the brand into the larger C-segment SUV space with a more upscale, more global-feeling package. Next up will be the Jeep Recon (EJ)<\/a>, the Mexico-built, fully electric off-roader that is expected to take the Wrangler\u2019s spot in the European lineup.<\/p>\n

That last part is a big deal. The Wrangler has always been the icon, but Europe\u2019s emissions and safety rules have made life harder for traditional body-on-frame, gas-powered off-roaders. Rather than force the Wrangler into a market where it no longer fits cleanly, Jeep will lean on Recon to carry that open-air, adventure-focused personality forward.<\/p>\n

The Avenger has been a strong fit for Europe. It is small, stylish, efficient, and still looks like a Jeep, which is exactly what many European buyers want in crowded cities and tighter roads. But Jeep does not appear ready to let Avenger do all the work by itself.<\/p>\n

Two additional B-segment SUVs are planned, reportedly split between a smaller B-SUV and a larger B-SUV. That gives Jeep room to stretch the lineup without stepping directly on Compass. One of those vehicles will more than likely be the second-generation Renegade<\/a>, a name that still has plenty of recognition in Europe and North America.<\/p>\n

That move would make sense. The first Renegade helped prove<\/a> that Jeep could sell a small SUV without completely losing its identity. A new one could bring that formula into the STLA era with hybrid, electric, and possibly internal combustion options depending on the market.<\/p>\n

The new Compass (J4U) also becomes more important in this plan. Instead of being just another compact crossover, it now serves as the bridge between the small B-segment models and the larger vehicles coming later. For Europe, that matters because the compact SUV space is one of the most competitive areas in the market.<\/p>\n

Compass gives Jeep a larger, more mature product while still keeping the size manageable for European roads. It also gives the brand a vehicle that can offer electrified powertrains, available all-wheel drive (AWD), and a more premium feel without jumping into Grand Cherokee territory.<\/p>\n

A China-Built D-Segment Jeep<\/p>\n

The most interesting part of Jeep Europe\u2019s future lineup is a new D-segment SUV being developed with Dongfeng. This model will be built in China<\/a> and sold in both China and Europe, with other markets still possible.<\/p>\n

For some Jeep fans, a China-built Jeep may sound strange at first. Jeep has spent decades leaning into its American roots, and that identity is still a huge part of the brand. But Jeep is also a global SUV brand now, and Stellantis needs competitive products that can be built efficiently for different regions.<\/p>\n

Jeep officials have made it clear that this will not be a simple rebadge. The D-segment SUV is expected to be developed with a strong Stellantis role, with Jeep design, Jeep engineering input, and the kind of AWD capability buyers expect from the badge.<\/p>\n

But this would not be the first time Jeep has produced a D-segment SUV in China. Back in 2018, the GAC FCA joint venture produced the Grand Commander (K8)<\/a>, a larger three-row SUV designed specifically for the Chinese market. It was positioned above the locally built Cherokee<\/a> and gave Jeep a bigger family-focused model in one of the world\u2019s most important SUV markets.<\/p>\n

That makes this new Dongfeng project feel less like a wild new experiment and more like Jeep returning to a playbook it has used before. The difference this time is that the new D-segment SUV is expected to have a much broader mission. Instead of being limited mainly to China, it is being planned for both China and Europe as Jeep looks to fill a gap in its overseas lineup.<\/p>\n

By 2030, Jeep Europe should have Avenger, Compass, Recon, two additional B-segment SUVs, and the new Dongfeng-collaboration D-segment SUV. That would give Jeep a much more complete showroom than it has today.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t expect these models to make their way to North America, though.<\/p>\n

For the brand, this is about more than just adding nameplates. It is about making Jeep more relevant in Europe while still keeping enough of the brand\u2019s off-road flavor to stand apart from ordinary crossovers.<\/p>\n
