Thank you all so very much!’

The official Save Europe Act account also announced the figure, calling it ‘a significant milestone in the campaign’ and thanking those who had signed, volunteered, or otherwise contributed. The campaign said it was now entering ‘its next phase’, with further updates expected on a planned event in Brussels, volunteer coordination, and the expansion of its activist network.

Save Europe Act on X (formerly Twitter): “🛡️500,000 signatures.Today, the Save Europe Act reached 500,000 signatures, a significant milestone in the campaign. We would like to thank everyone who has signed, volunteered, or otherwise contributed to the initiative over the past weeks. Reaching this point would not have… pic.twitter.com/KjJ1HyD4l6

The milestone comes little more than a month after the initiative was launched by Vlaardingerbroek and Austrian activist Martin Sellner. The campaign calls for a moratorium on non-Western and non-European immigration, stricter border controls, faster deportations, and a Europe-wide system of voluntary or incentivized remigration. Its published material frames the project around the protection of Europe’s ‘native peoples’, ‘ethnic and cultural continuity’, and what it describes as restoring ‘demographic balance’.

However, the campaign’s 500,000 signatures are not yet formal European Citizens’ Initiative statements of support. The European Commission has recently warned organizers that it may refuse to register the proposal, arguing in a preliminary assessment that parts of the text could amount to racial or ethnic discrimination. According to previous reporting, the Commission said the proposal’s distinctions based on ‘ethnic, cultural or civilizational origin’ appeared to conflict with Article 21 of the EU Charter and Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union.

Under the EU’s European Citizens’ Initiative mechanism, organizers need at least one million valid signatures from EU citizens, with minimum thresholds met in at least seven member states, before the Commission is required to assess the proposal and issue an official response. Organizers normally have 12 months to collect statements of support after a proposal has been registered.

Save Europe Act organizers have rejected the Commission’s position and vowed to continue. In an earlier message to supporters, they said they planned to travel to Brussels on 15 July carrying the signatures already collected and intended to reach one million ‘with or without’ the Commission’s permission. Vlaardingerbroek has framed the Commission’s warning as political opposition to the campaign’s core message.

The latest figure confirms that the initiative remains one of the fastest-growing anti-immigration mobilization efforts on the European right. The campaign had already reported more than 369,000 signatures by 19 June and more than 430,000 after one month. Passing 500,000 gives organizers a clear mandate in the face of the Commission’s warning, while also showing the political momentum remigration currently has in Europe.

Related articles:

At a time when public debate is increasingly polarized and superficial, Hungarian Conservative remains committed to depth, intellectual honesty, and independent conservative thought.

                    Producing high-quality journalism requires resources.
