Lorna Shoren rumpali Austin Archey kertoi hiljattain Brutality Podcastissa, että yhtye on kehittynyt deathcore-juuristaan kohti laajempaa äärimetallia, mikä on herättänyt kritiikkiä genrepuristeilta. Hän ei kuitenkaan koe bändiä enää varsinaisesti deathcoreksi, vaan äärimetalliyhtyeeksi, jonka soundi ammentaa useista vaikutteista. Archeyn mukaan keskustelu bändin genrestä on saattanut jopa vauhdittaa klassisen deathcoren uutta nousua. Kritiikistä huolimatta hän suhtautuu asiaan myönteisesti ja korostaa skenen avoimuutta kaikenikäisille sekä luottamusta siihen, että bändin tuleva suunta muotoutuu luonnollisesti.
Archer kommentoi:
”I always think about where people shit on us, like ’they’re not deathcore,’ because we’ve kind of rattled the boat a little bit of what deathcore could be.
I wouldn’t even call us deathcore anymore. We have deathcore roots, but we are a metal band, and we are an extreme metal band at this rate.”
”People were labeling us deathcore so much, and then the ‘that’s not real deathcore, this is real deathcore’ discussion came up, people started to tune into what real deathcore was.”
