Hi everyone, I wanted to ask about a situation that happened today (on Easter) here in Wroclaw.

We have been living here for 8 months already. Someone took our stroller from our parking spot in the garage. They left a note saying they borrowed it and would return it in the evening—but without leaving any phone number or other contact details.

I posted in a local Facebook property group, and the stroller was returned within 30 minutes with apologies. I also confronted the person who returned it—they were very apologetic, saying sorry for not leaving their phone number or details.

Is this kind of behavior considered normal here in Poland?

  1. No. Not normal.

Usually people ask before they borrow.

  2. It’s not cool to keep stuff that does not fit in apartment at parking spot btw. Don’t be surprised if it end up in trash one day

  3. No, not normal at all. I’d say on the contrary, we are not chill about property at all.

  4. It’s called stealing and is reported to the police.

  5. that’s wild behavior anywhere, not just in Poland. the fact they brought it back quickly and apologized kinda saves it a bit, like okay at least they realized they messed up and didn’t double down on it, but still… you don’t just take people’s stuff without permission. most people here would never do that, so don’t take this as some cultural thing, it’s just one person being weird and making a dumb decision. I guess you just ran into someone who had a questionable moment and hopefully won’t try that again 😭
