Was browsing to rent specifically a car with Manual Transmission for my roughly 10 day trip in July and was very surprised to see the Volvo S 60 being made available for rent in that list.
Had consulted with my friends prior and I understand generally that manual transmission cars are more widely available within the economy category.
With regard to the Volvo S 60, I am being told by my friends that, if I do rent the Volvo S60 I would likely be getting a 20 year old model. How true is this? Are the newer versions of the Volvo S 60 manual transmission variant not popular with car rental companies?
I also noticed that searches are no longer giving guaranteed cars but rather, X or a similar car. Anyone has recent experience on not receiving the car that they booked for as a result of this, especially for manual transmission rentals?
Not really keen on renting automatics as I tend to be a lot less focused driving them. I am aware that most sports cars would be locked out as a result. I did consider renting from this service called Drivar, but the reviews around it are scant and mixed. Appreciate if anyone has reviews on that service too.
Finally, I understand that Check24.de pops out quite frequently on my reddit searches. Although the site is in German, how friendly are they with non-German language/Google translated support requests?
