Thought I'd share this piece of good news for anyone whose here with Permanent Residence or EU Long Term Residency.

Something that wasn't obvious in the recent Migri law changes that make P-EU / PR and citizenship harder, was that they removed the 4-5 years residency requirement for children whose parents already have P-EU and PR. So, they can effectively be granted PR immediately.

"Starting 8 January 2026, the rules were amended so that children living in Finland may get a permanent residence permit immediately without the four‑year residence requirement IF their parent or guardian in Finland already has a permanent residence permit, a P‑EU permit, or Finnish citizenship. In this situation, the child can be granted permanent residence “as soon as the guardian’s permanent permit is granted”, even from birth if living in Finland.  That means that the child’s permanent residence is effectively tied to the guardian’s status now – for the first time in law – so that a child can benefit from a guardian’s permanent status without meeting the old residence period requirement"
