Hello! I recently started to monitor my consumption after switching to the digital meter , using the Eneco app and Eneco is my provider.

I am really baffled by how 25,71 € energy usage costs me 81,34€. I get that transportation costs money and there is tax, capacity cost etc. but still actual consumption multiplied by 3 is the cost I am paying.

Before that I blindly followed what the energy company asked–> 150€ per month and at the end of the year either paying additional fee or getting something back. Now I see the cost breakdown and I am really Shocked.

I always thought we have expensive energy cost but it seems its the taxes and at the admin cost that is driving the costs? Is it worth switching providers in this case?

  1. Check your capaciteitstarief, that looks a bit much.
    What is your ‘peak’?

  2. Engie app forecasts 80 euro for 205 kWh usage for me right now, so it’s about right. Depending on your contract, price for energy itself can be 12-16 cents. All the test are the “costs”, about 60% of the total price.

  3. Capaciteitstarief is around a 5KW peak guessing from my current number. So you could gain a good 10€ if that can be managed better (depends on many factors).
