I’d be unemployed suddenly, that’s what my first reaction would be
Shrug, carry on and get another job.
A fresh start 🙂
Well I’d probably become homeless and jobless, how’s that for honesty? 😀
Don’t threaten me with a good time
I’d be homeless then haha
Traffic would be better I’d guess.
No… The Atomium. Manneken Pis. The comic walls. And other beautiful buildings and arts.
Including or excluding Zaventem?
Including: Damnit, now I’ll have to rebook my holiday flights.
Excluding: Damnit, now I’ll have to drive by Antwerp to get to the airport.
One less government.
I would disappear with it. But I guess the flemish would go independant, then, but they would also be a little embarassed since the capital make a lot of cash for them.
Economically, devastating.
Culturally, not that important.
Affectively, that won’t affect my appetite…
Our road and train network would be fucked. And a lot of companies would go under in the attempt to rebuild their HQ.
Why wait?

Honest answer is it would be devastating for Belgium in more ways than you can imagine.
Sad, mostly because that’s where my paycheck comes from. Other than that, I avoid it like the plague.
The EU would have a bad time and the peons would need to find another place for their protests.Â
Also, either I’m gone with the city, or I’m homeless.Â
i’m sure brussels is important for a bunch of stuff.. but to me personally if ya wouldn’t tell me i wouldn’t notice .
haven’t been there in years.
Well, at least all of Europe is going to be sad with us. EU, nato, whatelse?
do you mean nuked or just “vanished”, creating a piece of prime empty real estate?
The economic boom filling that up again with buildings will probably keep us going for another 50 years.
If its nuked and irradiated.. we will just call it “social housing” then. Most people living there wont know the difference anyway.
I would miss Tagawa ( japanese grocery store )and Waterstones( bookstore)
De financiële put direct gedicht …
Please define “capital” first.
It would be quite devastating for the ongoing coalition talks/theatre.
Impossible. The bomb would be stolen and 3 days later the tracker would signal from Casablanca.

Neem de hoofdstad van Vlaanderen der ook maar bij.
Disappear with or without its population ?
In any case it would be an economical and social disaster
Oh, anyway
Business as usual I guess? 592 days without a government so could be worse 🙂
Well I’m not much of a big city boy so for me personally it would greatly improve the area but there would probably be some side effects that might not be great for me. So I dont know, probably bad but there would be silver linings.
Do we keep the waffles?
I really don’t understand why we have to have 3 governments.
What are the practical reasons for keeping admin separated?
I’m not interested in hearing about any deep feelings.
Not counting people disappearing?Â
I’d miss the landmarks and musea but otherwise this whole place can go to hell. European institutions head first.
I’d be genuinely sad and am pretty shocked at the answers here. Sure, Brussels has a ton of issues but they are our issues. Full disclosure: living in Austria past 10 years but visiting Brussels at least once a year (not talking about the airport), I know that’ll make people disregard my comment even more but so be it
If that happens then I’d be 100% sure that all the trains would be on time more frequently
