In the short term he is correct, although he could have said it differently and with less sycomhancy toward trump especially given what the latter thinks about NATO and its role.
Hopefully we will eventually be able to decouple enough in time though, especially if we turn all the recent ‘realizations’ into action, but this is going to take years, if not decades, we should have started working on more strategic independence during Trump first mandate, or even earlier, perhaps during the annexation of Crimea or during the arab spring, but alas…
