EU wants digital sovereignty, but right now it feels more like digital dependency with better branding.
little late huh.. politicians man pfff
Good to see some foresight here diversifying tech dependencies sounds boring, but it’s exactly how you avoid future headaches.
If the EU wants its own tech infra, among other things, it needs to pay EU SWEs like the US does, or at least like Switzerland does.
Awesome, finally this is picking up steam, a decade late…but still.
The problem is that always when we developed new technology it ended being sold to 3rd parties like Microsoft, IBM, Google, etc…
Lmaooo ya only like 16 years too late. Good job.
I mean you can sound all the alarms in the world, what are you actually doing to get us digitally independent?
Now they have to contend with no only starting later but the fact nobody will trust them cos surveillance will undoubtedly be baked in
I mean, good, but a bit… mosterd na de maaltijd. This would’ve been disastrously hard to do in the best of times, and we will take hits from all angles if it does implode, which doing this now might accelerate. All while resources to build the required infrastructure are under tremendous pressure from the AI boom, making it all the more expensive. We have ASML, and some mid-heavy hitters, but nothing to catch this or really bargain with.
But, if we fall, let’s fall forwards, and start seriously acting on building the tools at the scale that we /can/ handle, and going from there.
Well, at least we got them eco-friendly bottle caps
Jeez where has she been sleeping? A bit late to the party.
Something new to talk about!
Do somethin’!
Get rid of Palantir Tech (Peter Thiel)!
What we mustn’t forget is that we are the MVP of all US services. Either we exploit that position or we do our own thing. If we’re honest, it-service-things have only gone in one direction so far, and nobody in the EU wants to continue like this.
The stable door appears to have been left open, as evidenced by the horse I can see disappearing over the horizon
And we sig deal with India so we can outsource our righta from USA to India… Marvelous!
As long as this are the kind of “tech chiefs” run EU, all the tech will be from US.Â
